Shikigami no Shiro II (式神の城II) is a vertically scrolling shooter released in the arcades and later ported to the PlayStation 2, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo GameCube, and Xbox.
The game was released in Japan for each of those mediums and was later brought to the U.S. on PlayStation 2 by XS Games (as Castle Shikigami 2).
Castle Shikigami 2 did not receive well in matter of sales due to lack of a markting campaign.

This is lacking from Shikigami no Shiro 2, coming as somewhat of a mixed blessing.
Shikigami no Shiro is a beautiful piece of work, and a much needed addition to the sparse collection of shooters on the Gamecube.

Gradius V should be a winner, (read my other articles), Shikigami No Shiro II plays and looks very nice, and Psyvariar II looks like it's shaping up nicely.
In fact, when I played Shikigami No Shiro II, my first impression was that it played so much better than the entries before it, and my second impression was that Success/Taito really did a good job on the game's visuals.
I hope together with Ikaruga GC and Star Soldier that Shikigami No Shiro II will make the GameCube hardware into the much-deserved shooter-preferred developing tool that it should be.

Shikigami 2 has a very nice soundtrack, with all of the sounds having that feeling of “fitting” the level they are played in.

Believe it or not, this is the first Japanese arcade port to come out of our XS Games that didn't get skewed and raped like they did in their early "translated" games.
I'll just leave it at that, there's no way to expain how awesomely bad the voice-overs in the cut-scenes are, but at least you still get the original Japanese voices in the gameplay, and you have the option of turning off the cutscenes so you won't hear the horrible, horrible dubbing XS was responsible for.
And for $10 for a game that could be sold full-price, there should be no reason not to pick Shikigami II up.

I'm placing an order for the Shikigami II appreciate DVD today, so things are going to get competitive very soon.
His top score on the official Shiki II Arcade online ranking is 6.9 billion (posted last November), so I thought that was the same as his score on the DVD.

MLF2 is the first Shikigami no Shiro, developed by Alfa System, released in conjunction with it's supposed prequel for the original Playstation.
Naming confusion aside, this is what Shikigami no Shiro is about: cute, doe-eyed Japanese girls in witching outfits, and androgynous, mysterious Japanese boys with magical powers floating through the atmosphere dodging thousands upon thousands of pastel bullets.
And, although Shikigami no Shiro II is not a 2D title, the quick and dirty localization that XS Games has been guilty of in the past makes me pine for a better financial position at Working Designs.

Well with Ikaruga,Shikigami No Shiro 2,Border Down that is quite a quality lineup allready (I was actualy referring to quality and not just quantity).
While Shikigami No Shiro introduced you to something wich force you to go even closer to the enemies if you want a higher score wich is a killer factor and sure will deliver exciting moments as you'll be closer to danger, for me that's the right direction in revolutionize the shooter genre.

Alfa System announced they plan to develop Shikigami no Shiro III for arcade, the 3rd installment of the popular shooting game.
I've played the DC version and II is pretty good, so deffinetly looking forward to them making a 3rd one, just hope it comes to the US sooner than it took for II to come here, or I for that matter.
Click-Stick reports that Shikigami no Shiro III will be presented at AOU2005.

Though it's taking a different route from the one followed by its predecessor, Alfa System's vertical shooter Shikigami no Shiro II is on its way to the Xbox, Famitsu Weekly reports.
The Xbox version of Shikigami no Shiro II will include a practice mode for playing through specific stages and challenges and an Xbox Live score attack mode.
The Xbox version of Shikigami II, however, is the last console version of the game, preceded by GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Dreamcast ports (in that order).

Insert credit reports that a Shikigami no Shiro 2 ost will be released on new years eve.
I want both Shiki2 and BD (well I already have BD), but if I had to chose, I'd definately say BD is the way to go.
I've searched around for a while now but no one seems to be claiming that they can get the LE, I need it so I would appreciate it someone could direct me to the right place or person.

Yeah you're right, Ikaruga was released worldwide, so Shikigami II has a chance.
Apparently alpha systems (shikigami's makers) opened a petition back on May 15th, and fans voted for which system they wanted Shiki II to be on.
They had originally planned it as an Xbox exclusive port, but backed out on that due to the awful hardware sales of the xbox in japan.

no you only need a Freeloader disc to play imports on a Gamecube minus Donkey Konga and Mr Driller Drill Land.
I was looking in the menus and changing crap, hehe, never used her anyway...

So a NAOMI to GC port is pretty simple and can be done quickly (in a few months) and by one or two people (like Ikaruga was).
Shikigami II is a big improvement, and I think you'll be pretty happy with the GC version (it should be a spot on conversion).
But if you have II on the GC I really wouldn't waste your time or money.
