Shiloh coat colours according to at least one breed standard may be "shades of fl with tan, golden tan, reddish tan, silver, and cream" or "various shades of richly pigmented golden, silver, red, dark brown, dark gray, or fl sable".
The difference between the Shiloh Shepherd Dog and its parent breed the German Shepherd Dog is explained by the breed club as being essentially that the Shiloh is the dog for people who fell in love with the German Shepherd as it was in 1962.
The Shiloh Shepherd Dog was developed by breed founder Tina Barber of Shiloh Kennels in New York (A Mid-Atlantic state; one of the original 13 colonies) state in a sustained effort over the last third of the 20th century.

The Shiloh Shepherd consists of several distinct "lines" within the German Shepherd Dog, blended together by the Breed Founder, and later expanded under her guidance by a small group of ISSR, Inc. Licensed Breeders, all listed on our website.
The Shiloh Shepherd breed is not, and was never intended to be a wolf-dog hybrid breed.

The term encompasses a group of diseases of the cornea (the transparent covering of the dogs eye) that are bilateral (present in both eyes), non-inflammatory, and inherited.
Granular dystrophy: can be seen as small white dots in the center of the cornea or may take the form of lines radiating from the center of the cornea.

Smooth coats shed year round and should be brushed twice a week, Plush coats only shed twice a year but should be brushed regularly to avoid matting.
A large, fenced yard is ideal as Shilohs love to run and dig.
They are an inside dog and should not be used as a watchdog although they will protect their family if necessary.
