 Shimazu Yoshihisa
Shimazu Yoshihisa was the eldest son of Shimazu Takahisa (1514-1571) and a lady of the Iriki-in family.
Yoshihisa had made a grave mistake in his underestimation of Hideyoshi, but as 1586 drew to a close, the latter's threats may have seemed a moot point.
Their reasoning was that the Shimazu seemed to have drawn back to rest (as indeed they had) and this presented a fine opportunity to relieve Toshimitsu, a nearby castle currently under siege by Niiro Tadamoto.

'''Shimazu Yoshihiro''' (&23798;&27941;&32681;&24344;; August 21, 1535-August 30, 1619) is the second son of Shimazu Takahisa and younger brother of Shimazu Yoshihisa.
It had traditionally been believed that he became seventeenth head of Shimazu clan after Yoshihisa but it is currently believed that he let Yoshihisa keep his position.
Yoshihiro was essential to Shimazu clan and both Ieyasu and Hideyoshi tried to divide the clan by treating Yoshihiro well, but treating the elder brother Yoshihisa badly which did not succeed.

Even though he was only the third son, his elder brother Shimazu Yoshihisa did not have a son and his elder brother Shimazu Hisakazu died of illness in Korea, he was deemed the succesor of the Yoshihisa and he later took the name of Iehisa (&23478;&20037;).
Like his father and uncle, he was known for bravery on the battle field, and during the latter half of the Seven-Year War, fighting beside his father, he drove off the Ming army existing of over 100,000 men with only 8000 men.

Shimazu Yoshihisa (島津義久; February 9, 1533 – March 5, 1611) was a daimyo of Satsuma Province and the eldest son of Shimazu Takahisa.
Yoshihisa did not have a son to succeed him, so he had Yoshihiro's son, Shimazu Tadatsune marry the third daughter Kameju(亀寿) and adopted him as the successor.
There is no portrait of Yoshihisa remaining but in Taiheiji at Kawauchi, Kagoshima, there is a bronze figure of Yoshihisa of the surrender against Hideyoshi that was made after he died.

In 1572 Shimazu Yoshihisa defeated Ito Yoshisuke at the Battle of Kizakibara.
However, Shimazu did not have the forces necessary to defeat Otomo, so he began recruiting heavily in all his territories, saying that all who could carry a weapon must join his army.
Shimazu realized that if he attacked the Otomo in the open there was a small chance for victory, so he devised a plan to reduce their strength in order to gain the advantage in numbers.

The satsumabiwa is the name given to the lute-type instrument originally played by the Shimazu clan samurai in Satsuma Province (present-day Kagoshima Prefecture and the southern part of Miyazaki Prefecture).
During the Meiji period, as former Satsuma samurai took positions of power in the new capital, satsumabiwa was introduced to Tokyo and the rest of Japan.
In 1878, the former daimyo of Satsuma, Shimazu Tadayoshi, organised a satsumabiwa performance for the Meiji Emperor.

Shimazu Tadayoshi was an extraordinary man: his humanist and religious education.
During the administration of his adoptive son, Shimazu Takahisa (1515-1571), the Portuguese arrived in his lands and Xavier entered his dominions (1549).
Xavier’s contact with the world of the Shimazu family, more concretely with Takahisa and the monk Ninjitsu, is reflected in Xavier’s letters and those of Brother Fernández as well as in Japanese documents of the time.

With all of your allies safe from harm, you'll be free to focus on Yoshihiro and Yoshihisa Shimazu.
I recommend taking down Yoshihisa first; he's not as strong as Yoshihiro, but he's faster and his attacks can still cause quite a bit of damage if he gets in some lucky shots while you're fighting his brother.
You might also want to save before fighting Yoshihiro and Yoshihisa if you aren't certain that you'll be able to beat them on the first try...after all, you wouldn't want all the effort that you put into getting your weapon to go to waste.

 The Sapposhi
Having supported, to no avail, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's campaigns on the Korean peninsula and then thwarted at Sekigahara by the forces of Tokugawa Ieyasu, Shimazu Yoshihisa (the 16th generation leader of the Satsuma domain) had drawn heavily upon his subordinates without reward.
With financial resources unstable and the morale of his warriors ambivalent the Ryukyu Kingdom began to look more and more like the only sure way to resolve their financial quandary and appease the Shogun.
This was done in the event of an invasion and the passage also refers to Hideyoshi's campaigns in Korea and the battle at Sekigahara, that they too, might take up the front lines providing a clandestine line of defense for their homeland.
