Another spring festival with a centuries-old flavor is the Chanchan Festival of Tenri, Nara Prefecture.
On a more sober note, Nara City learned that it had been disinvited from participating in the Kyongju Korea Sake and Mochi Festival 2005.
(A mochi is a cake made of boiled rice.) The folks from Nara City were to have participated in the festival of their sister city in South Korea on the 26th, but they received a telephone call this week asking them not to come.
