Simranjit Singh Mann, president of the Shiromani Akali Dal-Amritsar, was on Monday arrested from Sangrur district of Punjab in connection with four different cases of sedition registered against him.
Mann also admitted that he had helped Bhindranwale and his men by distributing arms while he was posted in Faridkot as a senior superintendent of police in the early 1980s.
Mann contested on an Akali Dal ticket from Tarn Taran constituency in 1989 from jail and he won his seat with the highest margin.

Shiromani Akali Dal(Amritsar) president and former Member Parliament Simranjit Singh Mann today appeared and Bassi Pathana police station of district Fatehgarh Sahib and joined investigation there.
Mann along with his stanch supporters including SGPC members Ravinder Singh Khalsa, Bibi Surinder Kaur reached the police station where Bassi Pathana SHO H.S. Benipal completed the formalities of Mann’s joining the investigation.
It may be mentioned here that Bassi Pathana police had recently registered case against Mann for sedition and making inflammatory statements on the basis of his remarks during an interview to a private news channel at his Quila Harnam Singh residence.
