In Karnataka, the two attractive wildlife parks of Nagarhole and Bandipur, though separate entities, are part of a larger contiguous wildlife reserve that includes the Mudumalai Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu and the Wynad Reserve in Kerala.

TIRUCHI: A Wildlife Crime Bureau, a Central investigative agency on the lines of the Narcotics Control Bureau, would be set up within the next three months to check poaching of endangered animals in sanctuaries and forests, said the Union Minister for Environment and Forests, A. Raja.
Wildlife activists have condemned the attack on Forest Department officials of Antharasanthe and D.B. Kuppe Range of Nagarahole National Park recently, in which senior staff were assaulted by villagers in H.D. Kote taluk.
The combined population of tigers and panthers in the 15 wildlife sanctuaries in the state has come down by 84 in the last one year.

Furthur,there is tremendous ‘biotic’ pressure on the surrounding wildlife habitat by way of firewood collection and a growing number of cattle and goats,which graze in the Sanctuary.
I wrote to the Chief Wildlife Warden about this great success story and suggested that these fisher youth should be felicitated in a Public Function,which will go a long way in motivating them to continue to protect the Sea Turtles, all their lives!

The Countryside Bird Survey (CBS) is a national research project being conducted by BirdWatch Ireland volunteers and NPW wildlife rangers to monitor bird population trends, throughout the Irish countryside.
The project was launched in 1998 and is supported by funding from the Heritage Council, Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government, and previous funds from the ESB for CBS training programme.
The Reserve is located in the winter feeding grounds of the Greenland white-fronted geese and these birds are visible in vast numbers, as well as hundreds of other breeds.
