Near Shizugawa is a campground/park area called Kamiwarizaki.
Shizugawa is located on the Kesennuma train line.

 Science Fair Projects - Kesennuma Line
This 79.4 km, 1067 mm guage, non-electrified line links the north-eastern coast of Miyagi Prefecture with the Ishinomaki Line (and the Tohoku Main Line a few stops farther) and the Oofunato Line.
Although the Kesennuma Line's south end is Maeyachi, it's operational south end should be considered Kogota Station in Kogota, Miyagi, as the majority of Kesennuma Line trains either have Kogota as their south terminus or go through it on the way to Sendai.
As of April, 2005, there were 22 trips daily using this line (10 south-bound, 12 north-bound).

So, I finally found out where I will be living in Miyagi-ken. Once again fate has cheated me (might turn out to be a blessing if I like the town) of my hopes of getting placed in Sendai, which is conveniently located 2 hours north of Tokyo via shinkansen and even has an airport.
My new home starting July 27, 2005 will be a town called Shizugawa, 2 hours north of Sendai via train with a declining population of about 14050.
I will be teaching English 4 times a week at Shizugawa High School, the only high school in town with about 465 students.

Factories are built at lowlands, houses near the beach are located at higher place, so a wave cannot go over them.@People living there are cautious of tsunami.
These are several different from Shizugawa along the southern Sanriku coast in Miyagi prefecture.
