 Holocaust :: links and related
Shoa (השואה), also spelled Shoah and Sho'ah, Hebrew for "Calamity", is the Hebrew term for the Holocaust; Churban Europa Hebrew for "European Destruction" (as opposed to simply Churban, the destruction of the Second Temple), is also used.
Shoa is preferred by many Jews and a growing number of Christians due to theological discomfort with the literal meaning of the word Holocaust.
The word Holocaust comes from the Greek word holokauston (Greek for "a completely ( holos) burnt ( kaustos) sacrificial offering"), the word meant "a burnt sacrifice offered to God", referring to a sacrifice Jews were required to make by the Torah, and later to large scale catastrophes or massacres.

I think this issue has already been adequately addressed through the creation of Holocaust (disambiguation) which is linked to at the start of this article.
Many other groups have had their Holocaust, and shuffling them to the side in the (disambiguation) category is downright disrespectful.
Instead of holocaust many Jews prefer the Hebrew word Shoah, which means "desolation".

At the moment I've got Holocaust redirecting to The Holocaust but when I've finished disambiguating all references to the Holocaust (I've done this kind of massive stuff before, it's easier that it might seem) I'll probably make it redirect to Holocaust (disambiguation) and editors can fix subsequent ambiguous references in the normal course of editing.
The term "holocaust" has been for centuries, and is still, in common use to describe a mass killing (see Holocaust (disambiguation)).
However "the Holocaust" has come to be used to describe the Shoah.
