An economic impact study conducted by the Grand Avenue Committee predicts more than $85 million annually in local, county and state taxes will be generated and 16,000 long-term jobs created when the project is complete.

The new owner of The Shops of Grand Avenue is planning to revamp the downtown Milwaukee shopping mall by seeking more national tenants and adding several new sit-down restaurants.
Northwestern Mutual announced in June that it was selling the 23-year-old, 291,000-square-foot shopping center to Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp., a New York real estate investment firm, for an unspecified amount.
Ashkenazy said he is not ruling out local restaurant operators for the mall, but said his company's relationship with national retailers through other properties it owns and the firm's long-term commitment to Grand Avenue should prove attractive to new tenants.
