  The Shotton Project
The project is named after Professor Fred Shotton (1906-1990), who dedicated much of his long life and varied career to the study of the Pleistocene (Ice Age) geology, archaeology and environment of the Midlands.
Shotton was a pioneer of the multidisciplinary approach to Pleistocene research, combining geology with the study of the remains of mammals, plants, insects, snails and archaeology to create a rounded reconstruction of past environments.
The fundamental aim of the Shotton Project is to attempt to revive his pioneering work and recreate a network of enthusiasts – professional and amateur - dedicated to the exploration of the Ice Age world of the Midlands.

GENUKI : Flintshire, Shotton, St. Ethelwold
By the third quarter of the nineteenth century, the Shotton district of the parish of Hawarden was becoming increasingly industrialised, with a rapidly increasing population.
The Shotton area remained within the parish of Hawarden until 30 May 1921, when the new parish of Shotton was created, from parts of the townships of Shotton, Aston, Sealand and Saltney; all of which had been in the parish of Hawarden until that time.
It should be noted that until 1921, the ecclesiastical district of Shotton did not have specifically defined boundaries within the parish of Hawarden, and its parishioners had the option to be baptised or married in any church of the parish of Hawarden, subject to the consent of the incumbent.

Shotton acknowledged that the consumption of newsprint varies across consumers and asked CACI to help it prioritise its kerbside collection resources.
For Shotton, CACI took a quite different approach; instead of looking at what was in the bins, it focused on the consumption patterns of different types of household.
The next step was to focus in on those local authorities with whom Shotton were working with to improve their understanding of recyclable material hotspots.
