The Inverclyde Line is a railway line running from Glasgow Central station through Paisley (Gilmour Street) and a series of stations to the south of the River Clyde and the Firth of Clyde, terminating at Gourock and Wemyss Bay, where it connects to Caledonian MacBrayne ferry services.
Prior to the 1923 grouping, the line was part of the Caledonian Railway and then became part of the LMS.
In the 1970s and 1980s all stations on the line were equipped with automatic ticket barriers, similar to those used on the London Underground.

This line is not meant to be a service between the cities: the journey would take twice as long as the frequent main Glasgow Queen Street-Edinburgh service via Falkirk and Linlithgow.
The line follows the Glasgow branch of West Coast Main Line, through the Rutherglen Juntion Area, past Cambuslang Junction (where the Whifflet line branches off) (WCML) as far as Motherwell Express Line Junction, and joins the Edinburgh branch of the WCML at Kirknewton.
The line between Uddingston and Holytown is also electrified, and is used by Argyle Line services.

An ironworks was established at Shotts in Lanarkshire as early as 1802.
A signal box was established here on the north side of the line (which is straight at this point), the sidings opposite being joined from the south-west by a curved and sharply rising branch 35 chains in length from the ironworks which was reached by a back-shunt.
In June the Shotts Company proposed that payments for injury to passengers (totalling £464.8.7) "be borne in the proportion two-thirds by them and one-third by the Caledonian".

Fire N Ice, a phenominal line dance team, also wowed the crowd with their routine, as did many of the superstar line dancers that included that hot couple of Pedro Machado and Rob I, who performed together.
The dance floor was great though (both in the main dance room and Line Dance ballroom) and it was a shame that there were not more line dancers there to enjoy it - considering the many events I've attended with scores of line dancers there that were stuck with much worse dance floors.
Maybe I am just a bit sensitive, but this woman had never stepped foot into the line dance room the rest of the weekend and I got the feeling she thought we were all invisible as she kept throwing her comments at Pedro.
