ShovelBums, with 13,000+ (May 2007) member is completely free to its members because of founder R. Joe's (me) philosophy that it is more important for archaeologists and CRMers to find archaeology and CRM jobs than to make a buck.
So the deal has always been if you find a job through ShovelBums I would like you to just shake my (or one of the list moderators) hands someday and say thanks; and if you have a few dollars, buy me a beer and tell me about yourself and your days in the field.
ShovelBums has also been instrumental in helping to stop the fundamentalist movement to teach "intelligent design" as science in public schools.
