Many interspecies conversations in the Star Wars universe are bilingual, with the humans usually speaking Basic and the non-humans speaking their own or a regional language although many humans are generally familiar with non-human languages even if they do not speak it as goes the same for the non-humans.
Shyriiwook (also called Wookie Speak in the Extended Universe) is the native language of the fictional Wookiee race of hairy bipeds in the Star Wars universe.
While Shyriiwook remained the common language of Wookiee trade and travel, the much rarer Xaczik language became the secret language of the Wookiee underground when Imperial forces took over their planet.

In Tatooine Ghost she has no trouble understanding what Chewbacca is saying, but in Heir to the Empire she requires a translator to know what the wookiees say.
Maybe the Solo kids know the more obscure technical one from Chewie, since t hey were always fiddling with droids and later ships, being technically inclined and all.

I have been attempting to maintain RP "purity" and not learn alien languages.
My character's name in Shyriiwook is CCraracsrra (Maritra).
You can use the alphabet to decode what Wookiee characters are saying...hope this helps anyone.

First off, Wookiees can't speak Basic, the language of all of the other races--they simply don't have the mouth structures necessary.
They can learn to understand other races' languages, but in order for a Wookiee to be understood, his listeners have to learn Shyriiwook.
Because Wookiees are so large, most clothing and armor available in the game cannot be made to fit them.
