SIALKOT: As many as 85 far-flung border villages of Bajwat area have been cut off from Sialkot district headquarters, as the movement of all the boats in the Tavi river has been stopped by local boatmen to avert any untoward incident following the very fast flow of rain and floodwater in the river.
In-charge Sialkot District Flood Control Khalid Nawaz Jonda said there was no gauge system to measure the flow of rain and floodwater in the Tavi river.
Meanwhile, the Sialkot District Flood Control Office authorities confirmed that although the speed of the flood water was getting gradually slow but the situation still remained dangerous, as a result, the boatmen were avoiding to resume boating in this river.

SIALKOT (October 27 2004): Sialkot District government has prepared a comprehensive plan for the installation of water filtration plants aimed at providing hygienic potable water and providing better healthcare to the masses.
The district government, he said, was spending more than Rs 311.8 million on the health sector out of which Rs 22.2 million on the improvement and repair of district head quarter hospitals, tehsil headquarter hospitals, rural health centres and basic health units.
In addition, a 20 bed mini hospital was being established at cost of Rs 22 million at Sambrial while 80 beds were being added in civil hospital Daska at cost of Rs 90 million for providing better health cover to the masses at their doorstep and to reduce their travelling difficulties, he revealed.

The Sialkot district government had declared an emergency in the jail as well as in the district.
