After the reform of 1790 the heraldry of Siauliai land was changed: the knight was replaced by the arms of the Duchy of Zemaitija with a bear as to stress the administrative dependence.
In this way the heraldry of Siauliai land of the 19 th century consists of 3 symbols: the double-headed eagle in the upper, and the knight and the bear in the lower part or the knight and the officer's coat.
The flag of Siauliai district was confirmed by the President of the Republic of Lithuania on February 19, 2002.

On October, 1795 Russian Empress Yekaterina II granted Siauliai the rights of the capital town of the region.
Administrative division of Russian Empire remained unchanged up to the end of the World War I, when the war came to its end, in 1918 Lithuania was restored as an independent state.
But in 1950 the counties were abolished and entire area divided into smaller units - districts.

The project is located on the former Sliupas family farm near the town of Auksuciai in the Siauliai region of northwestern Lithuania.
He is now working with the Siauliai County government, several Lithuanian agricultural institutes and schools, and with agricultural experts from the University of California at Davis to develop a research center which will be used to share information and teach Lithuanian farmers the latest in American agricultural techniques.
The Siauliai County government already has begun improving drainage systems on and around the farm and is upgrading access roads and electrical facilities to the site.

Gaidamavicius-Gele (1894-1912), poet, born in Naisiai, county of Siauliai.
He started writing poetry at the age of 13 and his first poems appeared in periodicals in 1908.
One of his several plays, Uzgavenes (Shrovetide), was performed in Siauliai.

On Sept. 15, 2001, the U.S.Air Force was scheduled to fly a shipment of agricultural and humanitarian donations to Lithuania.
Clement and the Yolo County Sister County Advisory Committee collected eight to 10 tons in donations from farmers, local businesses, students and community members to send to Siauliai County after a sister-county relationship with Siauliai (pronounced show-LAY) began two years ago.
The donations were boxed, crated and ready to be loaded at Travis AFB and flown to Siauliai International Airport when the Air Force halted all humanitarian shipments in order to concentrate on Afghanistan.

In the past several months you have heard of your interest in establishing a "sister-county" relationship with the County of Siauliai, Republic of Lithuania.  Today we have taken the first step toward that goal.
Why have we chosen the Siauliai county?  There are at least three reasons: First, Lithuania is in the exact geographic center of Europe, an appropriate starting point for a sister-county relationship.  Lithuania is also a country rich in history, culture and in democratic traditions.
