Zamboanga del Sur is a province of the Philippines located in the Zamboanga Peninsula region in Mindanao.
Its capital is Ipil[?] and it borders Zamboanga del Norte to the north, Zamboanga del Sur to the east and Zamboanga City to the southwest.
Zamboanga Sibugay is the newest province in the Philippines, created in 2001, when the third district of Zamboanga del Sur split off.

The growth rate in 1948-60 is very minimal considering that the town of Ipil was created in the early 50s as daughter town of Kabasalan with the present towns of Titay, R.T. Lim and Tungawan as its jurisdiction.
There is another drop of population in 1960-70 when Siay and Naga were created as daughter town of Kabasalan.
The high growth rate in 1970-80 of 3.87% is attributed to high immigration for job opportunities and acquisition of land in the forest reserve.
