Before the creation of Sibi district (in 1903), Ziarat used to be the summer headquarters of Thal and Chutiali District (Duki Sajavi Sub Division).
Later when the Sibi District was created in 1903, it became Sibi District’s summer headquarters.
The area came under British colonial influence by the middle of the last century, and was made a part of British India in 1887 like the rest of the old Sibi district.

In 1976, 10 years later, the Program's activities were expanded to two more districts; Sibi and Khuzdar under the overall supervision of Provincial Family Planning Board that performed under Health Department, Government of Balochistan with Headquarters at Quetta.
The Population Welfare Program was introduced in 1966 from Quetta and Pishin districts under the supervision and control of Deputy Commissioners.
In 1999, 5 new Program Districts were established and the number of the Program Districts increased from 17 to 22.

 History Through The Centuries
However, the first settled life began in the eight millennium B.C. when the first village was found at Mehergarh in the Sibi districts of Balochistan comparable with the earliest villages of Jericho in Palestine and Jarmo in Iraq.
At the same time the oldest University of the world was founded at Taxila, where taught the great grammarian Panini, born at the modern village of Lahur in Sawabi district of the Frontier Province.

This land also witnessed the glorious era of Indus civilization about 8000 years B.C when the first village was found at Mehargarh in the Sibi District of Balochistan comparable with the earliest villages of Jericho in Palestine and Jarmo in Iraq.
This early beginning led to the concentration of population into the small towns, such as Kot Diji in Sindh and Rahman Dheri in Dera Ismail Khan district.
Here, during the last decade i.e., 1980’s, the French and Pakistani archaeologists have excavated mud built houses of the Mehargarh people and their agricultural land known for the cultivation of maize and wheat, together with polished stone tools, beads and other ornaments, painted jars and bowls, drinking glasses, dishes and plates.

 Economic Infrastructure and Communications Bolan
The railway track going through Bolan district is 140 km: 90 km from Kolpur to Nari bank (18 km before Sibi junction) and 50 km from Sibi onward to the last railway station within Bolan district.
The Bolan district electrification system is linked with two grids of 132 KV (132,000 voltage) at Bhag and Mach.
Twenty one villages in Bolan district have been electrified during the last decade.
