Based on the romance between Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen that eventually led to their deaths (both presumably by Vicious' hand), "Sid and Nancy" is a docudrama of sorts that succeeds less as drama than as documentary.
Sid and Nancy, at the Key, is rated R and contains considerable profanity, graphic violence, nudity and sexual situations.
Nancy uses sex the way department stores use loss leaders, and soon enough, she's a permanent part of Sid's life, bringing heroin along with her.

Sid and Nancy is a movie directed by Alex Cox and released in 1986 (see 1986 in film).
Originally titled Love Kills, Sid and Nancy emerged during a period of renewed fascination in the life of the Sex Pistols member Sid Vicious, and stars Gary Oldman as Sid and Chloe Webb as his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen.
In his book Sid Vicious: Rock N' Roll Star, Malcolm Butt described Webb's performance as Nancy as "intense, powerful, and most important of all, believable." Courtney Love narrowly missed out on the role and was cast instead in a minor part as Nancy's friend Gretchen.

Quite disgraceful, in my view, is a final shot showing Sid, on bail from a murder charge, driving off with a smiling, beautifully dressed Nancy in a cab; a scene supposedly of fantasy but shot so realistically as to make you think she has survived.
Today, seven years after Sid’s death, the punk movement still has its lemming-like followers, replete with swastikas and frightening hairstyles.

Oldman is absolutely astounding as Sid, a tragic, pathetic figure in music history who has been turned into something of a martyr to punk by t-shirt and poster printers since his early death.
