Sheinberg was notorious for attempting to edit and make odd suggestions for Universal-distributed films and was sometimes successful.
Sheinberg thought the movie had potential if it was edited to fit the theme of "love conquers all".
Sheinberg felt that the Ridley Scott fantasy film would have a stronger box office potential with teenagers if 20 minutes were cut to trim the running time down to roughly an hour and a half and the Jerry Goldsmith score was replaced by one featuring Tangerine Dream.

Of course, in the Sheinberg this metaphor is removed from the outset and replaced with a very awkward bit of exposition which smooths away any difficulties the viewer may encounter within Gilliam’s distopian world.
And so, Sheinberg’s editors, in effect, drain the scene of it’s situational irony, and strangely commit the same error as the character in the scene: they create the exact problem (confusion) that they are fastidiously trying to avoid.
Sheinberg’s editors use these same shots but followed by the medium shot and with quicker cuts, which have the effect of disorienting our sense of the room’s space.
