Siemowit (also Ziemowit) was, according to the chronicles of Gallus Anonymus, the son of Piast and Rzepicha.
He became the Duke of the Polan tribe in the 9th century after his peasant father refused to take place of legendary Duke Popiel, who legend states, was eaten by mice, Siemowit was chosen as new duke by wiec.
The only mention of Siemowit, along with his son Lestko and grandson Siemomysł, comes in the chronicles of Gallus Anonymus.
