USP in .357 Sig? [Archive] - HKPRO Forums
The 357 Sig has certainly enjoyed it's share of success in LE field use, but I suspect that this is do in part to basically only three bullet designs being used.
To me, adavantages of the 9mm vs. 357 Sig are higher capacity, increased shootability, reduced weapon wear, much cheaper ammo, availability of quality loads, and efficiency....The 357 Sig by design, relies a great deal on it's energy and velocity to perform it's work (penetration and expansion.
However, most modern 9mm pistols are rated for +P and +P+ ammunition, but the fact still remains that using higher pressure ammunition on a constant basis will result in increased wear on the pistol.

I can defeinetly support a 9mm though you will defeinely need some kind of a sidearm to get back to the rifle you shouldn't have dropped in the first place as someone so adequetly put it.
A better thought would be to go through the pro's and con's of weapons with your planned group so that you can decide on one gun for everyone and have interchangeable ammo.

The Barrett M468 - SOCNET: The SpecialOperations.com Bulletin Board
Introduced by Remington Arms in 2004, the 6.8mm (.270 caliber) SPC is more lethal than the 5.56mm cartridge, without a significant increase in overall bullet dimensions.
In addition, while the SPC has a slightly lower muzzle velocity than the 5.56mm cartridge, its larger mass makes it ballistically similar to the lighter 5.56mm round (in terms of accuracy and bullet drop), and it delivers half again as much kinetic energy.
Flexibility is also the watchword with the M468, as it employs the ARMS Inc. S.I.R. (Selective Integration Rail) hand guard, which allows all existing military night vision devices, combat optics, and weapon accessories (such as bipods) to be mounted on it.
