Libreria Deportiva ESM : SIGMUND RINGECK´S KNIGHTLY ART OF THE LONSGSWORD
Sigmund Ringeck is such a person thanks to his efforts as an interpreter of the teachings of the grand master Johannes Liechtenauer, whose works would constitute the German longsword school up to the 17th century.
Ringeck’s original handwritten manuscript, which contains no illustrations, is of great importance due to its detailed instruction on longsword, wrestling, sword and buckler, armored combat and mounted combat.
Ringeck’s greatness is that he starts with the basics and then teaches the student the secrets of the longsword step-by-step.

Sigund Ringeck was a 15th century German fencing master, and the author of a fechtbuch, MS Dresd.
Ringeck is mentioned as schirmaister (fencing master) of the time of Albrecht, Duke of Bavaria, most probably corresponding to Albert III (1401–1460), who carried the title Duke of Bavaria from 1438.
Peter von Danzig's fechtbuch of 1452 draws on Ringeck's text (Ringeck and von Danzig are likely to have been personally acquainted), so that the most likely date of composition of Ringeck's fechtbuch is sometime in the 1440s.

StarAstrologer Books Secrets of German Medieval Swordsmanship: Sigmund Ringeck's Commentaries on Liechtenauer
Ringeck writes, "move your pommel over his sword" by which Tobler takes to mean going under the other person sword and ending up on the left side of the opponents sword.(picture 20:10) He ends up at the end of the technique with his right foot forward.
Ringeck states, "remains thereupon with your hands" and instead Tobler moves the hands quite a bit- leaving himself wide open to an attack in picture 20-11.Tobler also ignores Ringeck's instructions to snap the sword back at the left shoulder and cut with the short ("back") edge.
Ringeck was a genius, but the pictures seem almost a parady of what he was trying to get across.

Ringeck discusses the importance of footwork, and the importance of following a strike from the right side with the right foot, and following a strike from the left side with the left foot.
Ringeck moves on to describe the manner of parrying other angles of strikes with the sword and buckler, and also describes how to employ the buckler in deploying 1/2-sword techniques.

A Commonplace Book: Four 15th Century Fighting Manuals
Written sometime between 1420 and 1440, and ascribed to Sigmund Ringeck, the original manuscript glosses and explains the cryptic verses of the earlier Master Johannes Liechtenauer, who was probably born around 1320.
They illustrate their interpretation of Ringeck with lucid illustrations: arrows show the path followed by the sword and a sort of Arthur Murray footprint diagram explains the footwork.
Ringeck, it is true, does include brief passages describing general principals of swordplay.

Ringeck's longsword style is very simple and yet elegant in its approach, based on efficiency and simplicity.
While many of the Medieval fighting manuals primarily show counter-techniques and tricks, Ringeck's greatness is that he starts with the basics and then step-by-step teaches the student the secrets of the longsword.
