Sigtuna is situated at the bay Roslagen, stretching around Upplands-Bro and a part of lake Mälaren, in an idyllic nature.
Sigtuna was founded on what was then the shore of lake Mälaren about 1,000 years ago, and it took its name from an ancient royal estate (see Uppsala öd) some miles to the west of the location, see Fornsigtuna.
In 1187 Sigtuna was attacked by Couronian (from Latvia) and Estonian raiders from the other side of the Baltic Sea, whereby the Swedish archbishop Johannes was among the casualties.

It is official, the Social Democrats along with the Center Party, the Green Party and a local party, Action for Sigtuna municipality, have formed a majority government in our municipality.
I am so glad this is all worked out now and we will have four more years for the social democrats to continue improving our municipality.
