Sikyon Dove ancient Greek coins were minted in Sikyon, a Greek city located 11 miles Northwest of Corinth in northern Peloponnese.
Sikyon was a famous Greek center for the arts, particularly painting and sculpture, and was one of the first cities in Peloponnese to issue coinage.
Her coins first appeared in the beginning of the 5th century BC and most commonly depicted the images of a flying dove and chimaera, a mythical fire-breathing creature resembling a lion, but actually a mixture of part lion, goat, and snake.

The Sikyon survey project is a fully integrated multidisciplinary research program to study the human presence and activity on the plateau of ancient Sikyon, a city in northeastern Peloponnese between Corinth and Achaia.
The project was begun in the summer of 2004 by the University of Thessaly in collaboration with the Institute of Mediterranean Studies at FORTH and the 37th Ephoreia of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities and with the participation of the American School of Classical Studies, and the Universities of Cambridge and York, UK.
During the Roman Empire Sikyon lived in the shadow of Corinth, which was the capital of the province of Achaia.
