  Silas Wright - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wright served as Comptroller of the State of New York from 1829 to 1833, in which post he became a prominent follower of Martin Van Buren and a member of the Albany Regency that ran the state for the Democratic Party in this period.
Wright was elected to the United States Senate in 1833 as a Democrat to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of William L. Marcy.
Wright was offered the Democratic vice presidential nomination chairman in 1844, as a sop to followers of Van Buren, who had been disappointed in his hopes for renomination, but declined instead running for the position of Governor of New York.

WILBUR AND ORVILLE WRIGHT Wilbur Wright was born April 16, 1867, on a farm not far from New Castle, Indiana, Orville was born in Dayton, Ohio, on Aug. 19, 1871.
Wright State University's collection includes over 200 technical books, journals, and pamphlets accumulated by the Wright Brothers, over 500 items related to their research, business, and legal endeavors, more than 1,000 genealogical items gathered by Bishop Milton Wright and Orville Wright, nearly 3,600 photographs, and over 700 items representing awards and other memorabilia-approximately 6,000 items.
Wilbur Wright was in Kitty Hawk from September 13 to October 23, and Orville from September 28 to October 23.

In 1826 a site for a church was deeded to the society by Silas Wright and Joseph Barnes, and the building was begun in 1828 and not completed until 1831.
These provisions Were carried out, and on tile 9th of April, 1837, an act was passed authorizing a tax of $500 annually for three years on the taxable property of the town, to be invested in a manner similar to the foregoing, provided an equal sum was raised by subscription.
An act of incorporation was passed April 24, 1837, appointing Silas Wright, jr., Minot Jenison, Thomas N. Conkey, Chauncey Foote, Thomas D. Olin, Richard N. Harrison, Daniel Mack, Joseph Ames 2d, Simeon D. Moody.

    Wright Township is a real jewel in the county of Hillsdale, known in the United States survey as Township 8 south, of range 1 west.
    An early settler of Wright Township was William Brewster, a descendent of Elder William Brewster, a well-known member of the band of pilgrims on the “Mayflower”.
  Wright was late in getting settled as compared to other sections of Hillsdale County because this town area was, in large part, purchased by speculators who held the land for many years before they sold it to settlers.
