CD Baby: BLACKFIRE: [Silence] Is A Weapon (double disc album)
[Silence] is a Weapon is a double disk concept album that will take listeners on a journey of the past, present and future of Native American music.
As a former PR rep for a few local L.A. bands I use to be exposed to many different styles of music but Blackfire is the only band that I've found in recent years that successfully combines an eclectic mix of traditional music with a rocking sound that inspires and motivates.
This is one of the two best albums to have come out in the last year and is definetly the best completely independent album I've ever heard.

Silence's beneficiary concert in benefit of the Dojo society - the event would've taken place on Saturday, November 24th in Koper - was cancelled due to the same reason.

The album, composed and produced by Silence, is to be released by Mute Records on October 23rd.

Depeche Mode : Enjoy the Silence - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Arguably the group's most well-known song, it's an astonishing number that captures not merely Martin Gore's ear for a melody and lyric and David Gahan's ability to sing, but Alan Wilder and Flood's success as an arranging team.
The "harmonium" mix that appears at the end of this release is the original demo, sung and played by Gore as a minimal, mysterious ballad.
In Wilder and Flood's hands, the final single and album version became a massive epic, with synth orchestrations, backing vocals, horns, and more on top of a near-perfect beat and Gahan's majestic performance.

 Blindside- Silence reviews
Starting off the album is “Caught in a Glimpse”, a song that proves Blindside’s passion for heaviness has not been drained from their veins as Christian’s fiery vocals are swatted back and fourth between a barrage of crunchy guitar.
Silence’ on your headphones is like doing a journey in which a yearning of heart meets one hope and warmth, you don´t get to hear often on hard-rock albums.
'Silence' is like a wave of musical harmony vibes, rolling mellowly onto the beach, at the same time, though, breaking tempestuous rocking onto the cliff.

Silence (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Silence is Sonata Arctica's second full-length album, released in 2001 through Spinefarm Records.
It is the only studio album to feature keyboardist Mikko Harkin, who left the band for personal reasons before Winterheart's Guild was recorded.
Lead vocalist Tony Kakko claims Silence to have a more unique sound than their previous album, describing the album as more 'mature' and more of Sonata Arctica's own sound than Ecliptica.

 Metal-Rules.com: Interview with Sonata Arctica
As far as I have been informed, your previous album SILENCE seemed to be kind of a ´hit album´ in such countries as Japan and Korea at least.
This new album certainly has a bit darker vibe in it partly due to such elements as pressure, hasteness, some dark feelings I had during the song writing process, etc. Besides all of that, I´m that kind of guy who cannot write either songs or lyrics about the happiest things in life.
Therefore on this album I clearly tried to use those scales in my voice that could be used a proper and decent way in a live situation as well.

For their second album, the Murmurs decided to electrify their collegiate folk-pop and add a full rhythm section.

 Silence - Blindside
Silence marks Blindside's major-label debut, and finds the group reverting back to the initial aggressive alternative rock from its eponymous debut, yet the maturity and slick production are quite evident.
The material offered on Silence is edgy yet veers into mainstream hard rock territory, allowing much of the group's hardcore sound to evaporate in place of heavenly melodies.
Older fans may find the tighter, more focused Blindside a sour taste, yet Silence is a courageous release that displays the group's immense growth from its abrasive hardcore past.

Roddy Woomble - My Secret Is My Silence | album reviews | musicOMH.com
On My Secret Is My Silence there's a tangible sense of a man moving further towards his literary and intellectual influences, and of course home.
In building the final bridges from folk-tinged indie-rock to a consummate pastoral sound, Woomble has availed himself of a Who's Who of the current folk hierarchy, yet the record sounds like the talented retinue are being taken for the ride of their lives.
Borders-based singer/songwriter Karine Polwart released an acclaimed album of her own a few weeks back, and though, like Rusby, herself an artist of genuine stature and inspiration, she similarly benefits from Woomble's rambling vision, the lush duet on the title track being one of the particular highlights of this LP.

John Frusciante, A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence: Album Review : Soul Shine Magazine
A forest of eyebrows raised when Frusciante proclaimed his intention to release an album a month back in the spring and the whispers of critics were surely bemused at the logistics.
His albums have explored every facet of his emotional and intricate style, making a mockery of any aspersions cast and carving a name as something other than the guitarist in the Chili'.
Eclectic is too shallow a word for this album, yet strangely it is on closing track My Life that Frusciante seems at his most diverse.

Review: Live by Principle of Silence
Principle of Silence soon returned to the live environment as it was discovered through various studio sessions that they were unable to produce music of the same profundity, immediacy and weight without an attentive audience and reverential setting.
Our debut album was realized as a culmination of concerts we played that year and the year before.
We knew this was our chance to record a live album as we felt that by this time we were comfortable enough to pull it off.

The Silence in Black and White - Hawthorne Heights - Song Listings
The closest Hawthorne Heights' debut album comes to originality is that they rip off bands in two different genres, trying to blend the pop-emo of Thursday, Jimmy Eat World, and the other post-Weezer bands with the glossy, commercial pop of bands like Good Charlotte.
The overall lack of personality on this album is its fatal flaw, however.
There's nothing on The Silence in Black and White that'll make anyone turn it off and throw the CD across the room in a fit of rage, but it's hard to remember anything about the album an hour after it's over.

 The Graduate - Soundtrack
This album was issued at the same time as Bookends, and is invariably treated as a Simon and Garfunkel album even though their contributions are minimal and the songs they sing are available on other albums.
If this album has been summarily dismissed so far, it is because of the clearly obvious musical defects contained upon it; it is fine for those wanting a memento of a seminal and highly successful film, but for those curious to understand the Simon and Garfunkel phenomenon it does the duo few favours.
They felt the lack of new material on the album would be cheating their fans, and they were afraid of the competition between a movie album and their forthcoming studio album, more than a year in the making.

This double album consists of an album of live improvisations from 1977 and an album of more typical Samla/Zamla material, although with more of a folky influence that shows through more than ever before.
Much of the album was recorded at Hansson's home which had become virtually a studio with much of the same line-up of musicians/friends who had played on Magician's Hat.

Enter Starsailor, who debuted with their unspectacularly ear-catching album “Love is Here” in 2001, all jangly guitars, layered, theatrical arrangements, and quivery tenor vocals singing oblique lyrics that only occasionally flirted with meaningfulness.
It was a pleasant album, but it really made no promises, and one could have been forgiven for dismissing the band as a future footnote of turn-of-the-millennium Britpop.
