In 1835 Silverdale was a township in the parish of Warton.
For probate purposes prior to 1858, Silverdale was in the Archdeaconry of Richmond, in the Diocese of Chester.

Silverdale is a small, but thriving, village in Lancashire, situated on the border with Cumbria and facing westwards into Morecambe Bay.
The community of around 1500 residents is well served with small friendly shops and enjoys excellent services provided by the two doctor’s surgeries, village school, library, two village halls, two churches, a fire station, community policing supported by the Neighbourhood Watch group and, of course, the Parish Council.
However it also incorporates the final version of the “Parish Plan” which has been created by members of the Parish Council and representatives of most organisations within the village.

Leighton Moss nature reserve, on the Lancashire coast, is part of an important site of extensive reedbed, carr woodland (wet woodland made up of willow and alder), sandflats, saltmarsh, brackish lagoons, woodland, limestone grassland and limestone pavement.
Barrow Scout and Silverdale Moss are areas of improved, drained grassland, which have been heavily grazed.
The excavation of the reedbed at Silverdale started in summer 2002 but due to delays casued by the wet winter was not finished until July 2003.There are now approximately 1.0ha of new pools and 7400m of ditches.

This was particularly interesting as the only previous Lancashire records are believed to be of lowland origin, these moths having a one year life-cycle.
The increasing number of possible sightings of this moth in the Silverdale area suggests a concerted search in May would be worthwhile.
Even better, if the opportunity occurs, please attempt to photograph the moth but due to its scarcity, please do not retain the moth for too long if popped into a pot for a closer look (as it is very active and can damage itself) and do not take any specimens away.

The Lady's Slipper orchid was reported missing on Tuesday from Silverdale Golf Club in Red Bridge Lane, Silverdale.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said it is thought the flower might have been stolen to order.
Specialist plant collectors are being urged to keep a look out for the orchid, which is yellow in colour with maroon petals.

Tim Bergin, prosecuting, said: "It is not the prosecution's case that this defendant maliciously caused cruelty to the animals in her home, simply that she allowed her obsession to collect animals, as it were, to overwhelm her.
There was also evidence of rat infestation, fleas, dust and dirt, and the house was subject to extreme temperatures, the court heard.

If you end up in Silverdale look out for signs to Shore then take first left off it and keep going until you see farm on your right after the Plant Nursery.
The location is abut half a mile south of Silverdale on a working farm so you can have a large herd of cows going up one side of the field in the evening.
There are two fields, one for caravans and vans looking for hook-up and the other for tents and campervans without hook-up.
