Silvertide - Music Downloads - Online
Silvertide was formed in January 2001 in northeast Philly, a heavily working-class area that is to Philadelphia what Queens and Brooklyn are to New York.
At first, Silvertide (which was originally called Vertigo) had four members: lead singer Walt Lafty, lead guitarist Nick Perri, rhythm guitarist Mark Melchiorre (who also plays banjo and the Indian sitar), and drummer Kevin Frank (who has cited the Who's Keith Moon as a major influence).
But if the members of Silvertide were musical outsiders in high school, they weren't outsiders in Philly rock clubs -- by the time 2001 ended, Silvertide was creating a healthy buzz on the city's rock scene.

MUSIC PREVIEW: Silvertide patiently waiting for its big wave
Silvertide's latest support effort is for Alter Bridge, the band that formed out of Creed's wreckage with three of its former members, and the tour stops at Avalon tomorrow night.
Lead guitarist Nick Perri said that Silvertide has drawn inspiration from touring with hard rock big timers, not to mention a wealth of great stories, most of whose oft-hilarious climaxes are unprintable in a family newspaper.
Silvertide also comprises a classically raw, no-frills arena rocker lineup that, alongside Perri's guitar, includes lead vocals (Walt Lafty), rhythm guitar (Mark Melchiorre Jr.), bass (Brian Weaver) and drums (Kevin Frank), and doesn't easily help the case.

Or, if you've done some reading, maybe you know that Silvertide opened for Aerosmith (after a mere six months as a group) and are positioned to be the next great American rock act, the band that finally brings self-destructive hedonism and self-indulgent riffing back into vogue.
The song also shows Silvertide's ability to blend chaos with professional restraint: as Perri frenetically plays fills and solos, the rhythm section maintains a solid footing while keeping pace.
Silvertide, conversely, have a broad range of musical influences to refer to, and it's evident throughout the album.

Not exactly reinventing the wheel, but anyone interested in that probably isn't going to be listening to a record by Silvertide or any of the other bands I've mentioned.
However good the first few songs are, the album does falter badly in the back half, beginning with token ballad "Heartstrong," the sort of soulless, wimpy anthemic nonsense that is the '00s equivalent of the power ballad.

With Walt Lafty on vocals, Silvertide's promo assembly of three songs provides a surreal ambiance of music that has been touched on before by various other Rock bands.
Due to the explicit lyrics on this album, it would be very doubtful to see how they could get that much needed air time that could surge their popularity.
After reviewing this 3 song promo by Silvertide, it would be rather difficult to give this album anything more than three out of five stars due to the fact that there are only three songs to review.

Philadelphia’s Silvertide is a young blues based rock band who has spent the last couple of years honing their musicianship and entertaining local audiences by performing as many as two sets a day in nightclubs throughout the city.
Although all of this attention doubtlessly assisted Silvertide in its efforts to sign a relatively large contract with J Records last year, it must be understood that these expectations come at a price.
By that night, when we went to our regular gig, people had already heard that Silvertide had opened for or played the side stage for Aerosmith—the place was packed.
