 Simeon II of Bulgaria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Simeon Borisov Sakskoburggotski, formerly Tsar Simeon II of Bulgaria (born June 16, 1937) was the last Tsar of Bulgaria from 1943 to 1946, and was Prime Minister of Bulgaria from 2001 until August 2005.
Simeon is the son of Tsar Boris III and Tsaritsa Giovanna (of the House of Savoy).
Sakskoburggotski was sworn in as Prime Minister of Bulgaria on July 24, forming a coalition with the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF).

When young Simeon was born, the successor to the throne, son of Tsar Boris III from the German princes family of Sachsen-Koburg-Gotha, and the Italian Princess Joanna, daughter of King Victor Emanuel III (1907 - 2000), everyone was overjoyed.
The new Tsar was announced to be Simeon II, who was at the time 6 years old, to rule with the help of the Regents Council.
But the time of the pro-Soviet rulers was also to come to an end, and Tsar Simeon became a normal, but quite wealthy citizen of the Bulgarian Republic adopting the tongue twisting name of Simeon II Sakskoburggotski.

On June 25, Bulgarian President Simeon II and his National Movement (NM), which were elected four years ago with a large majority, were voted out of office.
This paved the way for the aristocrat, Simeon Sakskoburggotski (who formed his party a few months before the election), to win a significant victory, in which he only narrowly missed gaining an absolute majority.
Sakskoburggotski declared: “The bigger the coalition, the better it is for Bulgaria.” The deputy head of the BSP, Rumen Owcharov, spelled out what was at stake: “Our priority is the creation of a stable government because difficult tasks remain before us.”
