Moreno seems to be in tune with British writerSimonMoore, whose 1992 stage adaptation of Misery Moreno is directing for its North Texas premiere at Circle Theatre.
For Moore, who directed the original London production that starred Sharon Gless as Annie, looking more closely at the relationship between the writer and his fan became more important than exploiting the horror of it all, which is what happened in Rob Reiner's 1990 acclaimed movie version that earned Kathy Bates an Oscar.
Moore says other fans of King's work will be appreciative of how faithful the play is to the novel.
Jonathan Swift wrote four adventures of Gulliver: in the land of Lilliput, in the land of Brobdingnag, in the land of super-science, and in the land of intelligent horses whose word for humans is "Yahoo" (not intended as a compliment).
SimonMoore keeps these familiar stories lively by fragmenting them, inter-cutting with the story of Gulliver's madness upon his return, and his revulsion at the human race after living with the noble Houyhnhnms.
Jonathan Swift was, after all, the writer who suggested that the solution to the Irish problem was for us to eat their babies.

For a long time fairy tales depicted the protagonists/heroes as flawless paragons of virtue and the antagonists/villains as beings of pure evil that need to be destroyed.
SimonMoore (creator/writer) however went back to the original Grimm's fairy tales and put a more modern psychological spin to the characters.
A lot of the characters that SimonMoore created leave question marks as to their odd behavior but also leaves you more interested as you try to plummet the reasons of their actions.

WriterSimonMoore created a wonderful storyline, updating familiar favorites while adding a lot of fairytale gimmicks that enhance the plot.
Most fairytale lovers will recognize many of the elements that Moore uses in "The 10th Kingdom," like references to "Jack and the Beanstalk" and "Little Bo Peep." Even those who are skeptical of fairytales will enjoy John Larroquette's cynical performance as Tony, trying to keep his head when everyone around him is completely mad.
Do not expect the special effects to be as elaborate as in past NBC miniseries; most will find the huff and puff effects minimal and easily done.

An excellent example of a passionate creature forced into restraints of control by his own desire to be excepted and loved.

None of these devices appear in Moore's stage adaptation to replace the first-person access to Sheldon's mind that shapes King's novel or the wider-world rescue subplot that propels the script William Goldman wrote for the movie.
But it is especially important not to give the audience a chance to think during a thriller like "Misery", where even a few moments of reflection are enough to reveal the gaping holes in the plot.
The adapter implies in an epilogue that the whole thing may be Paul's drug-induced psychosis, inspired by the author's experience as a helpless patient in the hands of a nasty nurse while he was in hospital recovering from the injuries he suffered when he crashed his car.
