Terry Goodkind Forums - Wars Wizards Magic powered by need!? I think Richard has it wrong.
He thinks that simply because it's not a matter of life and death, using his magic is just a matter of satisfying a whim.
It's not a matter of need that is important when using magic, it's a matter of not using it on a whim, rather simply using when there is a purpose to use it, such as to light a lamp when he has nothing else to use, drive a nail when he has no hammer, etc..
I'm simply saying that it doesn't matter whether that purpose is a matter of 'need' or a matter of course, so long as it's not whimsical matter of course.

If that is helping you from doing anything...drastic, then perhaps you should let what other people say burn in hell, and continue writing whatever you feel is right.
DO not simply cease to write your feelings because you feel that it makes your friends worry.
I get the sense that perhaps in your own family you have a tough time expressing yourself, as I do, and that's probably why we both have internet journals, because we feel that someone is listening to us.

Innovation is not required to create something that you'll play for months on end.
