Simulations Publications - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Simulations Publications, Inc., often abbreviated to SPI, was an American publisher of board wargames in the 1970s and early 1980s.
It produced many games that were considered good and innovative, as well as just many games period, and changed the course of the wargaming hobby with its bid to take control of the hobby away from then-dominant Avalon Hill.
With the quick collapse of the wargame market, TSR published fewer and fewer simulation games and eventually all the magazines (except for Strategy and Tactics) were discontinued.

Simulations: For The Classroom: Education: U.S. Institute of Peace
Simulations are educational exercises that provide students the opportunity to "role-play" the concerns of stakeholders in a given scenario.
This simulation focuses on a conflict in the territory of "Palmyra" in the fictional country of "Siwa." The aim of the simulation is to demonstrate for the participants some of the challenges facing peacemakers in their efforts to resolve violent international conflicts.
The simulation deals with a specific issue in the Northern Ireland conflict: that of the marches which serve as a microcosm of the larger conflict between Catholics and Protestants.

 Machining of Ceramics
Simulations are also conducted at depths ranging from 1micron to 40microns and at rake angles varying from 0 to -60 deg.
These simulations are made at speed of 300m/min and the temperatures reach the melting point of the workpiece.
To study this behavior simulations are conducted on GS-44 silicon nitride at depths 1micron,5microns and 10microns at 0deg.,-15deg.,-30deg.,-45deg., and -60deg.

 CAST: Virtual Reality/Simulations
Computer simulations are computer-generated versions of real-world objects (for example, asky scraper or chemical molecules) or processes (for example, population growth or biological decay).
Specifically, three presentation methods were analyzed (a) computer simulations with pairs of students working on one computer, (b) computer simulation with an entire class, and (c) a game type simulation without a computer, all conditions were studied in classrooms of sixth grade students.
The focus of this research was to determine the effects of instruction using microcomputer simulations and conceptual change strategies for 74 students in high school and freshmen year of college.

 CAST: Virtual Reality/Simulations with UDL
This discussion of virtual reality, computer simulations, and UDL begins with an introduction to these two technologies (presenting a definition and sampling of different types and a consideration of their curriculum applications) and a discussion of the research evidence for their effectiveness.
Computer simulations are computer-generated versions of real-world objects (for example, a sky scraper or chemical molecules) or processes (for example, population growth or biological decay).
A student could construct a simulation to demonstrate his or her ability to apply algebra to real-life situations or to predict the outcome of a bacterial growth experiment or viral outbreak.

Online training simulation creation tools and developers
Of course, simulations have been around for many years in a variety of forms, from large scale flight simulators, to role-playing simulations in the classroom, to computer delivered simulations, and, most recently, high fidelity simulations that can be delivered through cyberspace.
Many organizations tell us that they’d like to use advanced e-learning simulations as part of their blended curriculum, but they feel that the barriers to entry (such as high cost and difficulty of creating simulations on their own) are simply too prohibitive.

Simulations: John Blondin has animated the hydro simulations that were presented in this paper.
Abstract:We have carried out simulations of planetary nebulae (PNs) within the general framework of the interacting stellar winds models, wherein the fast wind from a central star sweeps up the slow wind emitted in a previous epoch.
Our two-dimensional simulations take into account the evolution of the velocity and mass-loss rate of the fast wind.

Simulations Canada was a wargame company that released a variety of titles, and was notable for releasing games on Canadian subjects.
The company was formed in Jan 1977; at the time only The Avalon Hill Game Company, Simulations Publications, Inc., and Game Designer's Workshop were considered serious competitors in the growing wargame industry.
Simulations Canada offered an eclectic mix of subject matter in their games, though the majority of titles tended to be simple 2-player historical simulations.
