Stevens remained involved in politics behind the scenes after Mulroney refused to sign his nomination papers before the 1988 election, stymying his attempt to be re-elected.

Despite his paranoia, neither Stevens nor his website cannot give a single anecdote to explain why Harper -- born and raised in Toronto, refined in Alberta, policy wonk behind Reform's "The West Wants In" movement, and originator of the Clarity Act -- would be actively working to make Canada fall apart.
Perhaps Stevens had never read Harper's speech to the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating in Charlottetown while he was president of the National Citizens Coalition, published in the June 27, 2001, National Post.
