Sing Buri (Thai สิงห์บุรี) is one of the central provinces (changwat) of Thailand.
Neighboring provinces are (from north clockwise) Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri and Chai Nat.
Formerly the province separated into 3 small provinces - In Buri, Prom Buri and Sing Buri - which were unified by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) in 1895.

A few days ago David Thompson and Thanongsak were kind enough to invite me and Hal Lipper, a friend and writer at the Nation, to visit Singburi province, about 200 km north of Bangkok.

In the 1990s, Heong and his partners demonstrated a phenomenon called “plant compensation” which is an inherent insect resistance found in modern rice plant varieties.
Compensation is the capacity of the rice crop to recover from damage wrought by insects.
