A sinker is a (An artifact that is heavy) weight used in (The act of someone who fishes as a diversion) fishing to force a lure to sink more rapidly.
The ordinary plain sinker is made of (A soft heavy toxic malleable metallic element; bluish white when freshly cut but tarnishes readily to dull gray) lead, shaped round like a pipe-stem, and swelling out in the middle.
"Sinker" is also a slang term for a (A small ring-shaped friedcake) doughnut, usually used to suggest dunking (or "sinking") it in coffee.
