Sir Robert Strange - LoveToKnow 1911
SIR ROBERT STRANGE (1721-1792), Scottish line engraver, descended from the Scottish family of Strange, or Strang, of Balcasky, Fife, was born in the mainland of Orkney, on the 14th of July 1721.
It was from this master that he learned the use of the dry point, an instrument which he greatly improved and employed with excellent effect in his own engravings.
After his death a splendid edition of reserved proofs of his engravings was issued; and a catalogue of his works, by Charles Blanc, was published in 1848 by Rudolph Weigel of Leipzig, forming part of Le Graveur en taille douce.

Dr Hunter said that the members of the HIE board had been unanimous in agreeing to name the building after Sir Robert.

This song was first printed as The Jovial Hunter of Bromsgrove, but among the common folk of Worcestershire and Warwick, it has always been called The Old Man and His Three Sons.
The second title is derived from the usage of calling a ballad after the first line - a practice that has descended to the present day.
A tomb, said to be that of Sir Ryalas Bolton, "The Jovial Hunter", is shown in Bromsgrove church, Worcestershire; but there is no evidence beyond tradition to connect it with the name or deeds of any 'Bolton;' indeed it is well known that the tomb belongs to a family of another name.
