Sir Robin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sir Robin the Not-quite-so-brave-as-Sir-Lancelot (also known as Sir Robin the Chicken-hearted) is a comic fictional character played by Eric Idle in the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and by David Hyde Pierce in the Broadway musical Spamalot.
Sir Robin is a knight noted for his extreme cowardice, and for the band of minstrels (their leader is played by Neil Innes, who wrote their songs) who follow him around singing of his bravery and the tortures he will bravely endure, or of how bravely he ran away when faced with real danger.
Robin survived dangers such as a three-headed giant (played by Terry Jones, Graham Chapman, and Michael Palin), the Rabbit of Caerbannog ("I soiled my armour I was so scared"), and the Legendary Black Beast of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh, all simply by running away at the right moment.

He was called to the Bar at Middle Temple and survived pupillage only to be denied a career as a barrister because of the problems of the profession at that difficult time after the Second World War.
Whilst he remained almost a fixture at election time, he will be remembered for launching ten years' worth of BBC's 'Question Time' which soon sank without trace as a serious political forum after his departure.

At this point an increasingly apprehensive Sir Robin interrupts his faithful minstrels and, as King Arthur and his knights were forced to eat Robin's minstrels in the frozen land of Nador (and there was much rejoicing!), tragically the remaining lyrics of this stirring and inspiring ballad are lost forever.
The closest we ever come to a conclusion to this song is the following stanza, heroically improvised (despite Sir Robin's vehement protestations) as the brave knight of the round table flees...er, victoriously rides away from an encounter with the three-headed knight in the dark forest of Ewing:
