		Sister Act is a 1992 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, directed by Emile Ardolino with musical arrangements by Marc Shaiman, and released by Touchstone Pictures.
		This film spawned a sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, released in 1993.
		He makes her go into hiding as a nun in a Catholic convent, where she wears a habit and is given the name "Sister Mary Clarence".

		In this case, the original film - Sister Act obviously - was not that great a film, but it was a least a mildly amusing film to wile away a couple of hours with, which is more than can be said for this sequel.
		Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit is marred somewhat by the forced attempts to repeat the original film, and falls short by some margin.
		Sister Act 2 is an eminently forgettable film that should not have made it onto DVD until budget-priced ranges become available.

		Unfortunately, Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit suffers the same fate as so many sequels in that they fail to recapture the magic property that made the original movie memorable.

		So Sister Mary Clarence takes up the post of music teacher to a class of completely undisciplined teenagers who are only in the music class because it's considered "a bird course" - one which they can fly right through.

		In watching Sister Act again recently, there was a particular scene that reminded me of the power of the clericals -- the thugs in the final chase refused to shoot Delores because she was dressed as a nun; they couldn't shoot, in case she was a nun.
		When Delores arrives at the convent, it is as much of a culture shock to her as she is to the culture of the convent, especially as that is envisioned and embodied by the Reverend Mother (played astutely by Maggie Smith).
		Sister Act has to be one of those classic films that has to some out every year at Christmas when you've got the family round.
