Filmtracks: Six Days, Seven Nights (Randy Edelman)
Six Days, Seven Nights: (Randy Edelman) Ivan Reitman is one of the most unpredictable directors in recent times, answering every film like Ghostbusters with something like Six Days, Seven Nights.
Conversely, the second style in Six Days, Seven Nights is pure Edelman, and that involves the piano-led romance theme highlighted by "Robin." It's a lightweight, as his romance themes typically are, but the pleasant orchestral backing to the piano performances is easy on the ears.
Overall, Six Days, Seven Nights is a collection of derivative sounds from both Edelman's previous works as well as those of others, but there's enough spirit in the performances to float the album.

Co-starring Anne Heche (yes, she did a good job playing the heterosexual love interest) Six Days is an entertaining movie that has a nice mix of laughs, action and adventure.
Six Days, Seven Nights does not stick to this premise and dilutes some of its capacity to be a strong romantic comedy by throwing in some pirates for action.

Six Days Seven Nights (1998): Reviews
Part of what's so entertaining about Six Days, Seven Nights is the way Reitman happily mixes all the conventions of the stranded-on-an-island motif -- unpleasant encounters with creepy-crawly nature, the building of stuff out of bamboo and found objects, the first kiss in paradise.
All that's missing from Ivan Reitman's Six Days, Seven Nights is a plot with a moment's originality.
Six Days tries hard to recall Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn riding the rapids in "The African Queen," but the film falls short even of Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in "Romancing the Stone."

Six Days Seven Nights - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Six Days Seven Nights (1998) is a romantic comedy interspersed with elements of the adventure film.
She hires Quinn to fly her there, but an unexpected thunderstorm forces the plane into a crash-landing on a deserted island (Part of a cross cutting sequence in which the forced landing is juxtaposed with a native dance performed for tourists and watched by Frank back at the hotel).
Heche announced that she was a lesbian shortly after being cast: a decision named by the magazine Total Film as the 10th "dumbest decision in movie history", given the mainly heterosexual target audience for the romantic comedy.

SPLICEDwire: "Six Days, Seven Nights" review
In "Six Days, Seven Nights" she's delightful as a stressed-out New York fashion editor who crashes in a small plane on a tropical island with cranky pilot Harrison Ford.
They travel to an island resort by way of a rickety charter plane piloted by Ford, who is largely in his element as the kind of cantankerous, unpolished hedonist that Han Solo might have become at age 55.
A charmingly brusque loner type who drinks and mouths off to his nervous passengers, he and Heche quickly build a lively animosity, which only escalates when a day later she is called away from her vacation by her magazine, and needs Ford to take her off the island for a one-day photo shoot in Tahiti.

Review of SIX DAYS, SEVEN NIGHTS
Six Days, Seven Nights is one of the summer's early disappointments, an utterly pedestrian effort which plays it so safe that the stunt actors wind up taking more risks than the screenplay does.
After happily accepting a moonlight marriage proposal, Robin is summoned to oversee an emergency one-day photo shoot in nearby Tahiti and commissions laid-back charter pilot Quinn Harris (Harrison Ford) to take her there in his beat-up DeHavilland Beaver.
Six Days, Seven Nights handles this obligation with a hootworthy plot development in its homestretch -- the discovery of a handy piece of equipment so preposterous in its convenience that it deflates any sense of investment one may have built for the dilemma faced by our heroes.

While I don't personally agree with Heche's lifestyle, she is acting and that is what acting is all about, making you believe that you are the person in the story not your real life persona.
Heche accomplishes this in Six Days Seven Nights and uses the skills of Ford to her benefit.

I didn't have any trouble watching Six Days, Seven Nights, but outside of Heche's limpid looks into Ford's face and a general aura of breezy inoffensiveness, I have more and more trouble recalling anything that happens in it.

The BigScreen Cinema Guide: Reader Reviews - Six Days, Seven Nights
Frank decides to put a little romance into his and Robin's relationship by taking her on a 6 day, 7 night vacation to a tropical island.
Unfortunately, for "Six Days, Seven Nights," the main characters didn't hold that kind of interest for me. Anne Heche played a character who was romantically involved with one guy (David Schwimmer), and is forced to face romantic tension when stranded on a deserted island with a scruffy pilot played by Harrison Ford.
Six Days, Seven Nights would make a very good "Movie of the Week" on one of the networks, as the content is light enough to interest the average TV-watcher (but not engaging enough to satisfy expectations when paying full price at the movies).

Six Days, Seven Nights is not likely to be remembered as the film that answered the question whether America would buy an openly lesbian actress as a straight romantic lead in a mainstream Hollywood movie.
Scarcely has he popped the question, however, when Robin learns she must fly to Tahiti for half a day for an emergency photo shoot.
To distract from the frequently witless dialogue and logic-defying plot, the filmmakers add a lot of noisy, absurdly fake-looking computer-generated spectacle, from that tropical storm to exploding shells.

Just as she was about to be cast in Six Days, Seven Nights, the biggest break of her career, Heche and DeGeneres began appearing together as a couple in public, triggering a media firestorm.
But Six Days, Seven Nights is at best a problematic test case for whether an up-front lesbian can carry a very hetero romantic comedy.

SIX DAYS SEVEN NIGHTS ($30) is an enjoyable little romantic comedy, but it isn't a film classic that will be remembered for the ages.
SIX DAYS SEVEN NIGHTS stars Harrison Ford as Quinn Harris, the pilot who would rather be getting drunk in a local bar, than ferrying tourists back and forth.
Despite the lack of the anamorphic component, SIX DAYS SEVEN NIGHTS cannot be faulted when played back on a 4:3 display.

Pressure from Betsy's extended family to include their joint Jewish and Italian-Catholic heritage in the ceremony doesn't do much to assuage the title character's worries, nor does the lovelorn bitterness of her older sister, Connie (Ally Sheedy), who's single, her parents assume, because she has the audacity to pursue the unfeminine profession of police officer.

uch of the action of "Six Days, Seven Nights" centers around a small plane with broken landing gear mired in the sand of a South Pacific beach, and that unfortunate image proves to be an apt metaphor for the film itself.
On the flight there in Quinn's tiny, battered charter plane, a fast-moving squall forces the odd couple down on a deserted island, where they must contend with wild pigs, scorpions, starvation, earthquakes, pirates and each other.
"Six Days" does briefly manage to achieve lift-off during some energetic and tense moments on the island as the couple frantically attempts to hide from some howitzer-toting bad guys while implausibly repairing the plane with the equivalent of spit and duct tape.
