Sixmilebridge (Droichead Abhann Ó gCearnaigh in Irish) is a small village in County Clare, Ireland, population 1,327 (2002 Census).
Located midway between Ennis and Limerick city, the town is a short distance away from the main N18 road, being on the old "back road" between the two.
A highlight in Sixmilebridge is on the river where a thriving population of ducks occupy a unique creation.
Sixmilebridge Hostels > Jamaica Inn Hostel (An Oige)
The Jamaica Inn, located in Sixmilebridge, County Clare, is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth a look.
Although there are no bus stops in Sixmilebridge on Sundays, and much fewer stops during the weekdays and Saturday as there are in Bunratty, Shannon, or Limerick, it is a fairly nice village in which to spend a couple days.
Sixmilebridge were down by 1-5 to 1-8 at half-time, but the Clare club scored four points without reply early in the second half to take the lead.
Niall Gilligan got their second goal eight minutes into the second half, to put them four points up by the tenth minute of the second period.
Blackrock came back and were one point up with five minutes to go, but Sixmilebridge finished strongly and substitute Paul Fitzpatrick scored the winning point in the second minute of injury time.
Shortly before the final split of SixMileBridge, a high-powered quintet of Irish rockers transplanted from New York to Texas, they released one final album.
Fortunately for posterity's sake, it's a good last bow for the band and should keep fans sated 'til Maggie Drennon and Anders Johansson get their new project, the Maggie Drennon Band, into the recording studio.
Anders is somewhat reminiscent of Mark Knopfler in his singing of the bagpipe-driven "Cowboy Song." And Maggie's composition, "Brand New Legacy," speaks to the need for a family heritage.
