Skate punk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Skate punk (also known as skatepunk, skate-punk, skate-thrash, or skate-core) was originally a derivative of hardcore punk, so named because of its popularity among skateboarders, and the fact that many members of skate punk bands were themselves skaters.
Skate punk utilizes quick uptempo "jumps" of silence at the end of the measure to emphasize the start of the riff.
A skate punk's attire will be strewn with holes and rips, if not due to the hazards of skating itself than to self-inflicted damage for the sake of a more hardened, aggressive image.

I mean, if you were skating pools and ditches, you were doing more than your share of trespassing, breaking and entering, running from and/or lying to the cops, etc. Truth is, all that stuff was just as fun as the skating itself.
The punk and skate thing collided naturally because it was probably just as life-affirming and personally liberating to find that forbidden pool as it was to dig music no one else did—even though they never bothered to listen to it.
If there was a difference between the two scenes aside from whether you do or don't skate, it was that punks brought enough grief on themselves just by the way they looked and knew trouble would find'em soon as they walked out their front doors.

Punk rock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Punk rock may have been influenced by the snotty attitude, on- and off-stage violence, and aggressive instrumentation, overt sexuality and political confrontation of artists such as The Who, the Rolling Stones, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, The Velvet Underground, Alice Cooper, The Stooges, the MC5, The Deviants, and the New York Dolls.
Gradually, punk became more varied and less minimalist, with bands such as The Clash and The Police incorporating other underground musical influences like ska and rockabilly and even jazz into their music, but the message of the music remained the same; it was subversive, counter-cultural, rebellious, politically incorrect and often anarchist.
Punk rock was a message to society that all was not well and all were not equal.
