The staged reading is part of a larger celebration titled "Voices of Freedom," in observance of Banned Books Week (Sept. 25 through Oct. 2), and it is free and open to the public.
Skenderija, who was born in Bosnia, began publishing prose, poetry and criticism in Yugoslav literary journals in the late 1980s.
In 1999, with the help of Wayles Brown, Cornell associate professor of linguistics, Skenderija and his family moved to Ithaca.

The Sport’s Hall is soon-to-be ready for the F8 The cultural and sport center Skenderija, inside which stands the Sport's Hall Mirze Delibašića, was built in 1969 in the very center of Sarajevo, on the left bank of the river Miljačke.
After his premature death in 2001 the management of the city of Sarajevo decided to rename the big Hall KSC Skenderija into the Sport's Hall of Mirza Delibašić showing how meaningful was that sportsman not only to the club but to the whole country.

The underground part of the Skenderija functioned as a shopping center in whose coffee shops the citizens could meet safe from shelling while its boutiques sold the clothes from 1992.

Office for International Cultural Co-operation Via Kult Office is preparing a big surprise for all children from Sarajevo and throughout BiH for the end of the 2003/2004 school year.
Skenderija Center will host more than 3,000 children every day, which is about 25,000 children throughout the festival.

MIRKO Magazine (SFOR PSYOPS Branch), with some help from Irina and VI electrified an audience of 4,000 people at Skenderija during the "No Drugs!" concert.
This band has dominated the BiH scene for the last two years.
Irina and VI and Mirko magazine visited schools throughout Sarajevo and gave away copies of MIRKO to everybody who attended the concert.

The goal of this brief survey course is to introduce students to a selected works of 20th and 21st century Bosnian literature in translation.
The course examines seven to eight texts (novels, collections of short stories, poetry and theatre), and includes both those authors representing an older, established generation of Bosnian writers (Andric, Selimovic, Samokovlija), and younger ones (also including Bosnians writing in exile, such as Skenderija and Hamon).
Lectures and discussions are based on English translations, but native speakers of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian are encouraged to do some reading in the original.
