Harry Nilsson - Skidoo: Reviews, Track Listing, Audio Clips, and more Music.com
Harry Nilsson[+] 's soundtrack to Otto Preminger& cheerfully "anti-establishment" film Skidoo is more memorable than the film itself, but that's a bit of a relative statement.
The film has been almost entirely forgotten, and the soundtrack is remembered only by Nilsson cultists, primarily for the absolutely brilliant opener, "The Cast and Crew," where all the credits are sung, with a really nifty tune on top of that.
It's not all that striking -- it's just agreeable background music -- except for the end, when Carol Channing[+] sings "Skidoo," a moment that's utterly jarring after nearly a half hour of lulling mood music.

[ aquarius records new arrivals list #142 ]
It's the soundtrack to Skiz's low-budget, 'student' WordSound film Crooked, which was previously available as a double with the DVD of said film.
It seems that these are the tracks that were made expressly for the film, but weren't included on the soundtrack cd that came with the dvd.
When Stapleton's freak-out guitar and Rogerson's eeriely disembodied / disaffected voice appear (which I've always been partial to), HNAS gets noticeably better in their monochord guitar blurts, plodding percussion, bleeding 23 Skidoo horns, and unnerving atmospherres.

"Skidoo" is the soundtrack to Otto Preminger's famously misguided attempt at a "psychedelic comedy" - I think I saw it once when I was about 7 but it doesn't seem to exist in any of my local video stores.
"Skidoo" is mostly filler, i.e., instrumental soundtrack music.

I must say that Skidoo is definitely one of the more entertaining of those "Hey, let's exploit this thing called acid that the kids just dig these days" type film.
Skidoo was a HUGE production - and, unfortunately, I can't imagine this is EVER going to be released on DVD, VHS, CD, cassette, or eight-track, because I can't imagine the Preminger estate wanting any trace of Skidoo to surface ever again.
