Creditors of the merged SkyCable and Home Cable are expected to sign soon an agreement to restructure the cable television providers’ debts once $30 million in fresh equity is pumped in by ABSCBN Broadcasting Network.
Estrellado explained that ABSCBN and Skycable’s parent company Benpres Holdings Corporation and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, the parent of Home Cable, are allowing ABS to invest in Beyond Cable by effectively waiving their rights to the equity call.
The merged Skycable and HomeCable earlier tapped foreign investment houses ING Barings and Bear Stern to advise it on its business plan and the possible entry of new investors.

I had heard about Channel 67 from a friend who subscribes to SkyCable, and he was sort of complaining that it was apparently a porn channel on cable.
On the one hand, I support freedom of expression, and SkyCable to me is well within its rights when it includes a porn site that is not accessible to all viewers but only to those who pay for the extra service.
Of course the best thing to do if you're a SkyCable subscriber and you don't want your children exposed to porn is teach them and monitor their viewing habits.

In a three-page manifestation submitted Dec. 8, SkyCable said it would comply with the NTC order, but under protest, because it still had a case pending in court.
The NTC had ordered SkyCable on April 25 "to cease from arbitrarily changing channel assignments without advance notice" to television stations, the public and the commission.
In a Nov. 28 order it warned SkyCable, a unit of the Lopez group of companies, that it could have its operating license suspended indefinitely if it id not comply with the order to reinstate GMA Network's signal to Channel 12 from 14.

The STAR learned yesterday that Lopez-owned SkyCable has made a definitive offer to acquire Destiny Cable from current owner, businesswoman Elena Lim, and, according to sources, the discussions are now centered on pricing.
If SkyCable succeeds in acquiring both Home Cable, the second biggest cable TV company in the country, and Destiny Cable, the Lopez subsidiary will end up controlling at least 90 percent of the cable television business in the Philippines.

A three-member investigating committee found SkyCable's Channel 22 (Cinema One) to have violated the MTRCB implementing rules and regulations for airing, at 4:30 p.m.

On Nov. 28, the NTC declared as final its April 25 decision and ordered SKYCable to return all free TV stations to their original channel assignments over SkyCable's system.

SkyCable and Home Cable have consolidated some of their functions by virtue of a master consolidation agreement signed by PLDT and the Lopez group in 2001.

In a statement faxed to Sun.Star Thursday, the management refuted the said claims citing their transparency during the negotiations and their cognizance of PCCDEU as the official bargaining unit and union of the company as proof of their willingness.
SkyCable said top management representatives have assured the union in writing that their concern on employer representation will be resolved in time and that whatever agreement reached will be recognized by the surviving entity as the corporate merger between SkyCable, SunCable, and Pilipino Cable Network is still ongoing.
