Skywave holds a Grant of Equipment Authorization (``Authorization'') for the manufacture and distribution of a low-power transmitter device, the SKY-2000 Digital FM Transmitter.5 On August 6, 1999, an agent in the Commission's Denver Field Office investigated a complaint of an illegal FM broadcast station.
Skywave also includes a copy of a letter from its bank stating that Skywave's loan matured in June 2000, and that it still owes $61,689.17 in unpaid principal and $3,310.49 in post maturity interest.
For this reason, Skywave now withdraws its prior request for confidentiality of its financial information, and urges the Bureau to revisit its financial documents, and to reconsider whether a forfeiture is appropriate in light of Skywave's financial condition.

There was something about their noisy, lo-fi, feedback-ridden take on shoegazer and dreampop that immediately made their tracks stand out on the comps (and given the relatively high quality of music that characterizes those comps, that's no small accomplishment).
Hiss and feedback are almost as big a component of their music as the guitars or vocals, and there's little to no low-end to their music (the bass guitar sounds like it was phoned into the studio, or in Skywave's case, the garage).
Skywave takes their noisy, stripped down assault and tempers it with the grey atmospherics of The Cure's Pornography and Disintegration albums.

This curious effect, which often manifests as nighttime interference, is caused by a phenomenon known as "skywave." Skywave is essentially radio waves from full power AM stations that travel upward, refracted through the ionosphere (from early evening throughout the night into morning) such that radio signals sometimes return to earth far from where they originate.
Skywave is heard on the East Coast into the morning daylight hours, because out West, where it is still dark, the bounce continues.
The worst frequencies for skywave interference are 640-890, 1000-1240, 1340, 1400, 1440, 1450, 1490-1580.

Skywave is the propagation of radio waves by reflection off the inner surface of the Earth's highly charged ionosphere.
Low to mid frequencies, especially AM broadcasts in the mediumwave and shortwave bands (and to some extent longwave), travel most efficiently this way at night, as they act more like the earth's natural electrical field than other higher frequencies (which act more like light), or lower ones (which act like magnetism).
Because the solar wind "blows" the ionosphere toward the earth on the day side, and away from it on the night side, this natural radio "mirror" is much higher above the surface at night -- allowing skywave propagation to reflect much further.

Skywave's sound, a sort of fiery, energy-boosted mutation of shoegazer, will be perfect for those who like crossing their feedback-drenched pop with explosive rhythms and rock-charged guitars.
Over this disc's fourteen track duration, the listener is treated to a wide panoply of melodies and atmospheres - be it a perfect, uplifting chorus or an almost devious slice of toe-tapping rock.
Occasionally Skywave falls into the trap of basing a song on an uninteresting melody or bland atmosphere - especially in the later parts of the disc, with tracks such as "Adore" and "I Believe," However, true dream rock fans will undoubtedly be pleased to find Synthstatic to be one of the genre's best modern achievements.

Groundwave propagation occurs when the receiving station is sufficiently close to the transmitting station, and is able to receive the portion of the transmitting station's signal which clings to the ground.
Skywaves are the waves which radiate upward at some angle from the antenna, and (we hope) are reflected from the ionosphere, to return to earth further away.
