 Belial - Melodic Black/Death Metal
Review: In their impulse to slam together raw melody in otherwise dreadnought simple chromatic riffs, Belial saw a future for black metal in the complexity hidden within detail that defined the whole.
Double bass continues underneath the rolling riffs, locking the band into patterns from which it produces a consistent sound through permutations, sounding very much like a death metal band if it weren't for the looseness of strumming rhythms and the simplistic architecture.
Nothing will stand out, especially not musicianship or the few subtle variations, but this stands as a band in the Hellhammer-esque style of black metal that made a new rhythmic experience out of the juncture between that band and Sodom, who played with similar styles of internal rhythm to riffs with equal simplicity.

BRALALALALA - Heavy Metal, Speed Metal, Hard Rock, Death Metal, New Bands, Records, Cassettes, Tapes

Part Pantera, part speed metal and all obnoxious, the band pummels the listener with intense riffing and massive flourishes.
And the band name is just an introduction to band, highly influenced by the 80's thrash metal, but very original and creative.

 Pessimist - Death Metal
Where this band really delights is in keeping an original idea in "heavy" death metal alive, but through careful structure and alignment, isolating the necessary counteractive impulses within a careful gatefield of tasteful riffs, intelligent transitions, and pummeling collaboration between texture and percussion.
Percussion reductive beats slam up next to a panopoly of guitar textures which drive riffs forward through multiple evolutions of the same idea, allowing related themes to exist concurrently with their conclusions.
Since this band builds sound from the speed metal-influenced framework of pounding and blasting percussive heavy death metal, this provides an aggressive but not unsubtle texturing of rhythms around the catchy melody of a song's central riff.

TNT Jazz Band concerts have been well-received at local clubs and on the college circuit, and now the group is in the studio cutting their second CD, Heavy Vibes.
The band performs high-energy jazz -- "smooth, but definitely with an edge." Those are the words of Tom Borino, who, along with brother Greg, formed the core of today's TNT band 25 years ago.
Most of the band's set is original, reflecting their own brand of contemporary jazz that's "a little more intriguing, a little more fast-paced," says saxophonist Tom Sansone, and it's "definitely not background music." Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Pat Metheny are among the group's jazz, funk and rock influences.

 Sparta: Porcelain: Pitchfork Review
Sparta continue to tread the thin line between "authentic" punk (compared to most of what passes for punk on the radio, Sparta absolutely rages) and "commercial" punk (they're on a major label, receive limited MTV exposure, and tour with Incubus) that drives a certain stripe of staunch, conflicted indie purist mad.
Sparta, on the other hand, sound positively huge: The arrangements are complex and inventive, and the lyrics are too oblique to wind up in anyone's slam book.
Sparta's sophomore LP, Porcelain, doesn't extend the sound of the band's debut so much as inflate it.

 Onyx
The band's breakthrough single "Slam" is their best work so far, with a nagging, catchy chorus, a heavy keyboard bassline, and a stunning rap from Sticky Fingaz that takes extraordinary liberties with meter and rhyme but works because his rhymes are a match for his manic delivery.
But nobody could possibly take this band seriously, except perhaps the confused middle class white boys who make up the majority of gangsta rap consumers.
Onyx managed to piss off a lot of people with their 1993 debut by relentlessly using the "N" word, the "F" word, the "B" word, the other 23 words, and generally celebrating guns and gangsta culture, without even the ring of truth that, say, Ice-T brings to his work.
