Mark Vallen's Art For A Change - Slash Magazine.
Slash Magazine grew out of the tasteless wasteland of Los Angeles in 1977, when a cluster of punk malcontents emerged who would challenge prevailing attitudes with as much verve as any group of nonconformists who had preceded them.
Slash was also the primary source of record reviews for punk and "new wave" records.
Slash was founded by Steve Samioff and Claude Bessy on May Day of 1977.

Slash was born Saul Hudson on July 23, 1965 in Stoke-on-Trent, England, to artistic parents both involved in the entertainment industry; his mother was a clothing designer who worked on David Bowie's film The Man Who Fell to Earth, and his father designed album art for such artists as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
As their popularity soared, the reserved Slash established himself as an important part of the band's visual image, with a top hat and a mound of shaggy fl hair covering his face as he typically staggered around the stage with a cigarette dangling from his mouth.
Instead, Slash decided to re-form the Snakepit in 1999 with an entirely different lineup (the original members were by this time involved in other projects, and the Blues Ball was more suited to touring than developing original material).

Slash (musician) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Slash (born Saul Hudson on July 23, 1965) is a British-American guitarist for the hard rock supergroup Velvet Revolver, and former lead guitarist for the rock band Guns N' Roses.
Slash was born in Hampstead, England to a Jewish English father (Anthony) and an African American mother (Ola), both of whom were involved with show business (his mother designed David Bowie's costumes from "The Man Who Fell To Earth").
On May 31, 2006, Slash was joined by Rob Zombie on vocals, another former GNR axeman Gilby Clarke on rhythm guitar, Scott Ian of Anthrax on bass, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee on drums, and surprise guest Ace Frehley of KISS for a rendition of God of Thunder.

As a result of their inability to find common ground, Slash went to work on material at his home studio with a group of musicians that included former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum, Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez, and former Jellyfish vocalist Eric Dover.
When Rose heard the songs that Slash was working on, he wanted the songs for the next G N' R album, but Rose had already rejected the songs when Slash presented them earlier in demo form, so Slash decided to keep the songs for himself.
Slash was still a member of Guns N' Roses at the time, but after the tumultuous pressure-filled period he had spent in the biggest and often most controversial band in the world, he found he was enjoying the freedom the Snakepit was affording him.
