  The Slavonian Traveling Band
Founded in 1986, the Slavonian Traveling Band performs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as a tamburitza orchestra typical of the Balkan region.
The Slavonian Traveling Band has performed at the Copia Cultural Center in Napa, Seattle Folk Life Festival, Tamburitza Extravaganza in Reno, San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, Oakland's Festival of the Lake, La Pena, Mills College, Hertz Hall, Croatian American Cultural Center, and at many ethnic picnics and weddings.
Since the fall of 1993, the Slavonian Traveling Band has organized several multi-media performances under the title "Ivo's Diaspora Cabaret" as a direct response of the members and their followers to events happening in the Balkans.

 Culture and Identity in the Biloxi Seafood Industry
Polish migrants from Baltimore, Slavonian immigrants, and Louisiana Cajun's provided the labor that laid the foundations for Biloxi's station as "Seafood Capital of the World." Biloxi's latest immigrants to the seafood industry, the Vietnamese, arrived during the late 1970s and early 80s and revived the languid industry by accepting jobs in the packing plants.
When the Slavonians and Cajun's formed their respective benevolent societies, the Slavic Benevolent Association and the Fleur de Lis Society, the initial purpose was to assist newcomers in their transition to America.
Slavonian immigration reached its peak prior to 1917, when the quota still allowed for large numbers.

Most of Biloxi's Slavonian and Cajun population working in the seafood industry were CatholicÑleading to a preponderance of members of this faith on Point Cadet and Back Bay.
Those Cajuns and Slavonians who worked in the factories and boats wanted "a better life for their children." They stressed education for their young who took better paying jobs, made new friends, and moved to different neighborhoods.

THE weather and the infamous midge could be factors in what encourages one of the UK's rarest birds to nest in particular parts of the Highlands, researchers said yesterday.
Last year, there were just 39 pairs of colourful Slavonian grebes across the country, down from 43 in 2005.

Six Slavonian Grebe were offshore, the highest count of the winter so far, also on site six Redwing flew east, a Grey Wagtail at the Main Pond, two Peregrine, eight Greenshank and a Treecreeper.
Offshore there were four Slavonian Grebe, five Razorbill,  two Common Scoter and two Red-throated Diver, a further 11 Red-throated Diver were recorded flying south, with small numbers of Gannet and the first Fulmar for several months.
The highlight was a Red-necked Grebe offshore from the windmill along with a Red-throated Diver, eight Great-crested and three Slavonian Grebe, a flock of c40 Common Scoter were also present but were very distant.
