Investigators believe American soldiers spent nearly a week plotting an attack in which they raped an Iraqi woman, then killed her and her family in an insurgent-ridden area south of Baghdad, a U.S. military official said Saturday.
James D. Thurman, commander of U.S. forces in the Baghdad area, had ordered a criminal investigation into the alleged slaying of a family of four.
Those troops under investigation are from the same platoon as two soldiers kidnapped and killed south of Baghdad this month, another official said Friday.

The Deltona slayings are reviving Florida lawmakers' interest in reforming the state's probation system and causing some to regret failing to take action this year.

I heard something about this today but was unable to post it because of who I got my info from.
An outright blatant crime as this one deserves NO trial, but yet everyones tax money will pay for his boarding, food, clothing and entertainment while sitting in jail or prison while these officers families are the ones left wondering how to take care of the own well-being.
The families must be devestated at the delays, but I would rather the prosecuter have all his ducks in row than not in a case like this.
