Sled hockey allows persons with disabilities, who are prevented from participating in regular standing ice hockey, to enjoy and benefit from a vigorous, physical team sport that some describe as a cross between ice skating, rugby, bumper cars, and ballet.
One is tightened around the seat of the sled and the player's waist; the second is placed over and under the sled frame at the ankles or the thighs (in the case of an amputee).
The sled is propelled by using two shortened hockey sticks or "picks." The sticks have a row of teeth, similar to the toe pick on figure skates, attached to the blunt or non-blade end of a sled.

Information About Pulling Sleds and How To Build A Sled
Most sleds have no problem stopping slow moving, stock and lightweight tractors, but a sled will need to be weighted down more or the weight box will need to be placed in a faster gear for the faster and heavier (fully modified) tractors.
Overall sled design, speed of the transfer box, weight transfer box weight vs. the sled chassis weight, pan size, angle of ascent for the weight transfer box, pulling chain hookup point, and pulling chain length all must be considered for best results.
The effectiveness for a sled to successfully stop a high-speed, fully modified pulling tractor depends greatly on where the two "leg supports" (the support posts that goes from the frame down to the skid pan, also known as the "fulcrum point") are positioned on the frame.

Sled kites rely on wind pressure to keep the sail in shape, some not requiring spars at all, making them very cheap, and almost indestructible, except by dragging them through a convenient gorse bush after the wind dropped!
The first completely soft kite was the Rogallo, developped in the late 40's and the 50's by Francis Rogallo, following the theory that it would be better to make an aircraft which conformed to the flow of wind around it rather than expecting the wind to conform to the aircraft (or kite).

Sled Storm, like the PlayStation game of the same name, features uphill, downhill, and cross-country racing on sleds, the things that used to be called "snowmobiles" until the term somehow fell out of the politically correct lexicon.
Sled Storm's tracks are as "big" as any in SSX, with the added bonus of uphill and downhill sections to mix up things on the Z-axis.

It has only been recently that some of the bodyboard sled manufacturers have tossed away their flat-rockered designs and have begun to use a sled with some rolled vee in the sled bottoms so that the sled turns easier and does not dig a rail.
